Effervescence of Dreams Amidst the Languid Neglect [Jul. 24th, 2004|10:20 pm]
[mood |lethargiclethargic]
[music |OverClocked ReMix - Memories of Green]

Yeah, so my summer's almost up. I head back to Harding on August 15th, but before then I got a little more to do. How have I spent my summer? You may ask. The answer? Both well and poorly. I didn't get a job, by choice. I wanted to spend the time doing things I don't end up doing during school, and to much extent I did. Unfortunately alot of the time was spent on video games, which although something I rarely do during school except for the occasional Halo match every couple weeks, hardly feels like hours well used. In my defense, I did get a chance to read several books. I finally finished House of Leaves, a fictional and very strange book I'd recommend. I am currently in the process of re-reading Keith Johnstone's Impro and Wild at Heart by John Elderige and reading Improvisation for the Theater by Viola Spolin, and The Allure of Hope by Jan Meyers, among a couple others.

Behemoth entry shortened for the sake of your friends pagesCollapse )

I realize you probably never thought you'd see this icon and username on your friends page again. But in deference to the adamant requests of my friend Megan, as well as my own volition, I'm breaking out the metaphorical defibrillator and breathing life back into the digital leaves of my journal. Expect to see more entries in the future, but for now. Goodbye.

You're Thailand!

Calmer and more staunchly independent than almost all those around you,
you have a long history of rising above adversity.  Recent adversity has led to questions
about your sexual promiscuity and the threat of disease, but you still manage to attract a
number of tourists and admirers.  And despite any setbacks, you can really cook a good
meal whenever it's called for.  Good enough to make people cry.

What the crap!?!? Utter weirdness [Feb. 9th, 2004|03:49 am]
[mood |surprisedsurprised]

Alright, I'm about to get back to studying but before I do I have to share something! I just pre-ordered the OneUp Mushrooms' latest cd "The Best of Sega" and while I was surfing their website found a cool picture of the Bob-omb from SMB. Less than a half an hour ago I decided to see if I could figure out where the pic of the bomb dude came from. I wanted to see if they had some kind of figurine I could buy, so I searched ebay and various websites to no avail. Well, to finish off my last minutes of break before studying yet again, I decided to check the friends page of my friend Jessica aka wayfarersgirl. I happened upon the entry of someone I had run across on livejournal a few times but did not know. She was mentioning something about OneUp Studios and this caught my eye. It turned out she had done some of the vocals for the cd I had just pre-ordered and so I decided to write a comment on how weird that was that I just stumbled across it. Well as I was commenting, I finished reading the rest of her post and discovered that she also commented on the Bob-omb avatar I had been so infatuated with just earlier and had since made my icon and even identified its origin as if in reply to the my earlier search. Sure this is all very silly stuff, but it still feels very serendipitous none the less. Wow...

Hmm, somehow I get the feeling this is God saying "Hey Jason, I'm with you, even in the smallest things, I'm by your side." Again, Wow!

El burro delante para que no se espante [Feb. 9th, 2004|02:58 am]

[music |Adventurous Break - Project Majestic Mix]

Well, I've finished my Spanish work, and now for the whole studying thing, Oh Joy!, btw speaking of Spanish, here's a poem I wrote last year during the first few months of school for no one in particular. It's called Día y Noche, and I'm sure it's rife with gramatical errors so feel free to correct me or make comments on it

Grr, I need to get to work but at the moment feel completely uninspired to do so. I have a test in the morning I haven't even begun to study for and some Spanish work left to get done that's kind of important. On top of that I was supposed to get a phone call from a friend and apparently she either forgot or doesn't care enough to return the call or is taking her sweet time or who knows. ...Alright I think I'm going to go get to work now.

Yay, just got back from a few hours of Halo on Jedi's Xbox on a big projector screen in the McInteer, with him, Patrick and Matt. Jessica watched us eradicate each other, lots of fun :-D

and now time to get to work on an idea I had when I woke up this afternoon. Last Saturday, my friends Derek Fyffe, Matt Reed and I all went to Copperhead Cave. The whole thing was very awesome if not epiphany causing. I decided I wanted a written record of what parallels I can draw between the cave experience and life. Here goes...

Why does life suck so much time has passed since it all went down to the ground to get out of the rain falls to the parched earth and is imbibed by the land bereft of that which has so long been lacking the strength to continue please insert a token phrase upon deaf ears of corn line the fields of endless green and gold coins fill the halls of long dead kings.
